Interesting facts came to light about the magnificent library of Masjid Nabavi

The library is not closed for a minute all year round, there are millions of books, hundreds of copies of the oldest Quran.


Adjacent to the Prophet's Mosque, the library has the status of a center of learning for the residents and visitors of the city of Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (peace be upon him). According to Al-Arabiya News, the lovers of the Prophet, who come from the city of Madinah and its environs to pay their respects to the Holy Shrine, try their best to use this knowledge and treasure. Thus, the library of Masjid Nabavi has become an important center of knowledge and cognition. In 1352 AH, the founder of Saudi Arabia, King Abdul Aziz, proposed the establishment of a library in Masjid Nabavi. Therefore, a library was set up under the supervision of Syed Ahmed Yaseen. At that time, the upper floor of Bab Umar bin Khattab in the Prophet's Mosque was given the status of a library.

The Bab Masjid is located to the northwest of the mosque in the direction of the first extension. In 1428 AH, the General Presidency of the Holy Mosque of Saudi Arabia moved the library to the northwest after the second expansion of the Prophet's Mosque in Kedor. In the second expansion, all the halls of the library were enlarged. An escalator was also provided by Chapter 10 for access to the library. The library is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the year for the thirst for knowledge.

There is also space for visitors and researchers to relax and 10 different types of duties are imposed. The library's administrative office and children's office unit consist of a large hall. It has all the facilities including lighting, air conditioning, winter heat, Zamzam supply, chairs, tables, carpets, computers and other modern appliances. The Prophet's Mosque has a total collection of 176,000 books in 516 cupboards. These books include a large number of purchased books and many free donated books. The library is visited by an average of 300 people an hour. The books are classified into 72 categories. The books are arranged alphabetically.

There are books on 130 topics of Sira Nabavi, stories and other children's literature in the special section for children. The manuscripts also contain books, old-fashioned copies of the Koran, digital photographs, and modern equipment and computers. Digital manuscripts are safe. Library books are sorted on an annual basis. About 12,000 books are reprinted or reprinted each year.
